An Estonian-based organization called Robotex organizes Robotex International, the annual robotics festival, which brings together thousands of engineers, executives, students, and families to hear from the leaders of the technology industry, explore new start-ups, build robots and explore the newest technology.
There are line-following competitions where the robots are tasked with completing the track marked with a black line on the field as quickly as possible. Two robots compete against each other on parallel mirrored tracks. There are competitions for LEGO based robots and other constructions.
There are sumo competitions where each mission is to take your opponent out of the ring, following all the rules of politeness and competition. The challenge is open to all, regardless of technical level and age.
The Robot League competition is a springboard for nursery and primary school children into the developing world of robotics. Unlike other Robotex competitions, the Robolight competition is not about speed and power, and does not determine winners. Instead, focussing on learning, teamwork, creativity, and programming skills.
In 2018 we took a team to Tallin in Estonia to compete in the intermediate line following competition. It was a great learning experience and we came 28th out of a very comprehensive international field..
